This creation was based on the Thunderbird 900. We put it together for a customer who wanted his custom bike stripped down to the bare bones. However, in its being essential it had to show off its manifold unit and the exhaust tip.
We adapted these, taken from racing manifolds built for the Speed Triple and then manufactured the aluminium exhaust tip. The front suspension needed a good-looking fender. Fabio built one out of a piece of hand wrought aluminium.
The license plate frame, again in aluminium, also works as a “Lucas” tail lamp holder.
A compartment to house all of the electrics (fuse box, relays, cables, etc.) was placed under the saddle. The battery was intentionally put in plain sight in the centre of the frame that holds up the saddle. The saddle was covered by the upholsterer, Conta, with top-grain red suede.
To give the engine a little more breathing room, we installed three K&N air filters and Dynojet carburettor kits to optimize carburetion. Now the engine response is quicker and the revs seem to never quit climbing.
The objective was reached. Another dream came true. Finally, Claudio got his hands on his Thunderbird.
